With over 20 years of experience managing art galleries Uri Rosenbach opened the Rosenbach Contemporary gallery in September
When art lover Uri Rosenbach took a step back and looked at the art scene in Jerusalem, he noticed that the Israeli capital was lacking a private gallery devoted to exhibiting and promoting contemporary Israeli art. Not content with that being the case, Rosenbach, who is an ultra-Orthodox religious man with an unorthodox way of doing things, decided to take action.
With over 20 years of experience managing art galleries and leading auction houses in Israel and abroad, he did what came naturally to him and opened the Rosenbach Contemporary gallery in September.
This newbie gallery is in the heart of Jerusalem on King David Street, which is known more for its high-end traditional art shops rather than cutting-edge creations. It aims to showcase the absolute best in Israeli artists working locally and abroad and promote their careers and their standing in the international arena. To help him on his quest, Rosenbach assigned Nogah Davidson as the gallery's artistic manager.
The gallery's latest exhibition "Modernism 2016" is the second of three thematic group exhibitions which mark the conceptual, ideological and stylistic outline for the gallery. It presents nine artists whose work reflects a renewed interest in modernist aesthetics.
